A Brief introduction to the Dunwich Benevolent Asylum
Text by Howard Guille with Elisabeth Gondwe and Lisa Jackson
24 pages, soft cover
The Benevolent Asylum operated at Dunwich from 1865 - 1946. Over the eighty years of operation, it held 21,000 inmates and, for most of the period, was the only public institution in Queensland, for the indigent - that is, the poor and destitute who were incapable of supporting themselves.
