Welcome to Starfish Studio, nestled on the pristine shores of Stradbroke Island, where Jess Scott, a seasoned visual artist with two decades of experience, channels the island's breathtaking beauty into her textile and patterned creations.
With a background in Fine Art, Jess has honed her craft surrounded by the sand, salt, and crystal-clear waters of Stradbroke, infusing her designs with the essence of her coastal haven.
Drawing from her deep connection to the natural environment, Jess's creative process begins with the observation of patterns in the world around her.
These observations come to life in her quaint studio, where pen, ink, and graphite give form to her visions, capturing the essence of Stradbroke's dramatic landscapes and serene seascapes. These drawings become the ever evolving textile range of her two labels, Starfish Studio and Seascape MarineDesign.
Committed to quality and ethical production, Jess ensures that every aspect of her work, from conception to production, is done right here in Australia.
Immerse yourself in the creativity and charm of Starfish Studio, and their range of unique homewares that radiate the island's allure—you never know what treasures you'll uncover.

Brewing for Biodiversity with Straddie Brewing and UQ
As part of National Science Week 2024, Jess was invited with 5 other artists by Straddie Brewing and UQ's Centre for Biodiversity and Conservation Science to design a beer label to highlight threatened species in our backyard, on Quandamooka Country (Moreton Bay).
Jess was assigned the Grey Mangrove, although not endangered itself, it is host to the Microbat, who is.
Jess' design has 8 microbats hidden in the image... Can you find them all?

Fishes Cafe Mural and Refurbishment
Jess was engaged to redesign and fit out the dining room of Fishes Cafe in 2022, and painted a mural of her "Fish Tails" design on a wall in the restaurant.

Biocup Art Series 2017
Jess was approached by Biocup in 2017 to use her TENTACLES design on a paper coffee cup that was distributed in Australia and New Zealand. Some even made it to the coffee shops on Straddie!
